NOTICE: As of 2021, College Board will no longer be offering SAT Subject tests. There is rumor that students should do AP exams to replace the SAT Subjects. This, at this point, is just rumor! The tests were eliminated because there were so few schools requiring them in the US; therefore, there is no need to replace something that really wasn’t needed to begin with.

SAT Subject tests are 1 hour tests on individual subjects. Students may choose to write up to three different subjects on one test day. Math Level 2, Physics, and Chemistry are the most popular. Students will usually find these tests require intentional study. There are topics that they have not learned yet in their A Level classes that they will need to understand before writing the tests.

Subject test were only needed for a few highly selective universities. There were only five schools the REQUIRE SAT Subjects. Several more (about 70) would have recommended or considered them.
